Key Features:This grant supports research to develop quantifiable relationships between vehicle speed and accident severity, accident rates, and driver reaction times across age groups in Singapore. It also includes international benchmarking of speed limit policies.

  • Project Duration: Up to 2 years

SUPPORT RATE

  • Up to 100% for IHLs and not-for-profits (plus 30% indirect costs)
  • 70% for Singapore-based SMEs/startups
  • 50% for LLEs
  • 30% for non-Singapore entities based in Singapore.

REQUIREMENTS

Open to all R&D organisations in Singapore including IHLs, not-for-profit research institutions, public sector agencies, private companies, and company-affiliated research entities.

Lead PI and Co-PI must reside in Singapore for at least 9 months/year. International collaborators allowed, but all work must be done in Singapore unless approved by LTA.

Proposals must address all three focus areas:

  • Quantification of health benefits,
  • Translation into relatable units,
  • Application in behavioural change strategies.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

Development of data-driven, relatable, and effective strategies to promote WCR commuting through health benefit quantification and behavioural change.

SUPPORTED PROJECTS

Projects must address:

  • Quantification of physical and mental health benefits of WCR commuting;
  • Translation of these benefits into relatable formats for public communication;
  • Study of effectiveness of health messaging in behavioural change strategies to promote WCR commuting.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Evaluation based on scientific merit, feasibility, impact, scalability, and team competency.
  • Proposals with trials/pilots and scale-up plans preferred.
  • Cash/in-kind contributions and multi-disciplinary teams encouraged.
  • Funding is milestone-based.
  • Non-fundable items and proposal guidelines available on the Urban Mobility Innovation (UMI) Initiative page on the Land Transport Innovation Portal (LTIP).
